Oliver Lee Memorial State Park is a relatively tiny 40-acre park on the edge of the Lincoln National Forest. But what it lacks in size it makes up in scenery. The photo above shows Dog Canyon, the view from our RV bedroom window.
As we climbed into Dog Canyon, we could look back and watch our RV (marked on the photo above) grow smaller and smaller.
This park felt like the real start of our trip. Most of the vacations in our adult life have been to national parks, and most of those in the western United States. We love the canyons, mountains and deserts, and this was the first taste of all three on our trip.
